How to Protect Privacy Online
Layered habits—accounts, browsers, payments—beat any single magic tool.
Privacy online is defense in depth. No single app makes you invisible; small upgrades across accounts, devices, and behavior compound.
Start with email and phone number—they are recovery keys for everything. Lock them with strong unique passwords and hardware or app-based two-factor authentication.
Segment identity: work browser profile, personal profile, maybe a 'junk' email for signups. Compartmentalization limits blast radius when one site leaks.
Payments leave trails; privacy-focused cards or masked cards help for trials. Crypto is not a beginner privacy panacea.
Assume anything you type into a cloud document or social DM may be subpoenaed or breached. Write accordingly.
Teach family the same basics—attackers target the weakest link in a household.
Use beginners-guide and account-security field guides as checklists.
